YORKINis situated along a river of the same name which serves along part of its course as the boundry between the countries of Panama and Costa Rica.
The community is habited by the BriBri people, an indigenous group of Costa Rica. It is principally a farming community with the main economic base in the organic production of cacao and bananas as well as many subsistence crops.

Kitchen and Multi-purpose building (Casa de las Mujeres)

These buildings are situated beside the Río Tsqui, (shown below) a lovely river which flows into the Yorkin River within the community. The "ranchito" at the left is a new structure made with local materials. It is divided into 2 rooms which can sleep 2 persons each.

Sleeping arrangements can be made for either of these structures or with local families as well as camping.

 

                  

 

The cable bridge crosses the Río Tsqui to make all weather crossing to both sides of the community.
