ADELA: Action for the Fight Against Petroleum Exploitation:
The Caribbean community won another legal victory against Harken Oil. The appellate court of Costa Rica granted members of our community our constitutional rights to participate in the protection of cultural, our economy, our nature in the face of big oil!
Remember, the fight against big oil isn't over, we are still facing the trial that Harken Oil has brought against the Costa Rican government for withdrawing their contract to drill here. Once it does go to trail, we now have the right, the Duty, to get involved and protect our home!

Puerto's Carnaval:
Starting on Friday the 22nd and lasting until Sunday the 31st of August --which is Día del Negro-- is the Carnival of Puerto Viejo.
Food stands, concerts, a crowning of the queen of the town, and other events will be going on from sunrise to sunrise.

Association for Improving the South Caribbean: Asociacion Pro-Mejores del Caribe Sur.
This new community group is having already their second beach clean up on Tuesday the 26th. Meet at the Parquecito at 8AM with your gloves on! If you can't make it in to Puerto Viejo, take the opportunity to get some neighbors together to go clean up your beach!

Unas cosas pasando:

ADELA: Acción para la Lucha Anti-Petrolera:
Nuestra comunidad ha logrado otro triunfo en la lucha contra la petrolera; Harken Oil. El tribunal de apelación de Costa Rica hizo la decisión de respectar los derechos constitucionales de los miembros de la comunidad a participar en proteger su propio medio-ambiente, economía, y cultural contra los deseos de la companias grandes de explotar el petróleo.
Recuerda, la lucha sigue, todavía enfrontamos el juicio que  Harken tiene  contra Costa Rica, pidiendo la renovacion de sus contractos de sacar el petróleo de nuestro tierra. Cuando finalmente empieza este proceso, tenemos que a ejercitar nuestro derecho y responsabilidad de involucrarnos para proteger nuestro hogar.

Asociación Pro-Mejores del Caribe Sur.
Esta asociación nuevo va a tener ya su segundo actividad de limpieza de playa comunitaria este Martes el 26 de agosto. Reunese en el Parquecito de Puerto Viejo a las 8 AM, listo con sus guantes y energía para trabajar.
Si no puede llegar a ayudar en Puerto Viejo, por que no limpiar su propio playa?

Carnaval de Puerto Viejo
Este Viernes el 22 de agosto empieza las Carnavales de Puerto Viejo, que terminan con un gran fiesta el día de la Raza el 31 de Agosto.
Disfruta de comidas típicas, conciertos, la coronación de reina del pueblo y otros eventos que empiezan a la madrugada y dura hasta la madrugada.  Participar en Ecoturismo con ATEC en conjunto con la Red Talamanqueña de Ecoturismo Comunitario, los visitantes pueden:
