School in Coroma Needs Help or will be CLOSED Down.

The Community of Coroma in Alta Talamanca Needs Your Help to Keep their schools open!
A couple of us from ATEC went up to the community of Coroma in November 2009 Our tour guide for the transocontinental trek from Coroma and the EBAIS doctor who visits the community once a week, along with many concerned neighbors informed us that the Ministry of Health is threatening to CLOSE DOWN THEIR SCHOOLS UNLESS THEY CAN GET A WATER SYSTEM SET UP.
About 2000 people live in Coroma. They have a grade school and a high school, they have a building which functions as a clinic once a week and a police station all without water. They informed us that they have been trying wtih the A y A (Costa Rican water board) and with the Ministry of Education for eight years trying to get some aid to get an acuaduct built to bring water to these four locations (school, high school, clinic, police station) with no luck. So, now if they don't get water flowing, all this will be shut down. So, we write to propose that you help Coroma to build a system of tubes from the Cobrí Creek, 2 kms from the town center. The list of needed supplies is below, they cost about $2000, (1.129.564 colones), they'll need funds for transportation costs (gotta bring in supplies on the river), and the community will put in the labor.
We have $600 in donations that we can use from the Hedges Foundation and our friends at EcoAventuras. We're asking (again!, I know, but we have to ask! or they will loose their school.) for small donations OR A LOAN! Do you have a rich uncle? Or some cash saved up for a rainy day? It's RAINING! If you could put up the funds, we can take future donations to pay you back.

La comunidad de Coroma en Alta Talamanca necesita de nuestra ayuda.
En una visita que hizo ATEC a Coroma, el 13 de noviembre del 2009, nos dimos cuenta de la urgente necesidad que tiene esta comunidad de un acueducto que les lleve agua potable.
En Coroma hay aproximadamente 2000 personas. Exiten una escuela primaria, un colegio que se abrió hace 2 años, un comedor rústico para cada centro educativo, una delegación de policía y un lugar en el que se quiere abrir un centro de salud (EBAIS).Todos estos lugares mencionados anteriormente serán cerrados por el Ministerio de Salud si no se abastecen con agua.
La promesa de un acueducto todavía está lejos de realizarse pero nosotros podemos ayudar a que esta comunidad no se quede sin escuelas, centro de salud, comedores y otros servicios. Necesitan para comprar los tubos y todo necesario para construir el sistema (ver la lista abajo) unos 1.129.564 colones (casí US$2000). Estamos Otra Vez, rogando a usted de ayudar a su vecino con una pequeña donación. O PUEDE SER UN PRESTAMO que repagamos despues.
¿Cómo? Existe una quebrada que se llama Cobri a 2 km de distancia, desde la cual se puede traer el agua hasta la comunidad por medio de un sistema de tubería. El presupuesto ya está hecho pero necesitamos de su apoyo económico para que esto sea realidad!
